Ali France’s election to parliament following her shock defeat of former Liberal leader Peter Dutton at the recent Australian federal election has generated a lot of excitement amongst Australia’s disability community. Much of this excitement comes down to the fact that Ms France’s election means greater representation in parliament for those of us with disability.

A non-verbal autistic teen, who also had cerebral palsy, has died after being shot repeatedly by police in the US state of Idaho earlier this month.
